Nerve Surgery (Neuroma)Compressed nerves can become enlarged and be very painful, but neurolysis, or nerve surgery, can treat the condition and relieve any pain or discomfort. Inflamed nerve tissues are referred to as neuromas and commonly form on the ball of the foot between the third and fourth or the second and third toes as a result of injury or trauma.
Your doctor can perform either neurolysis or nerve surgery to treat a neuroma. Neurolysis involves hardening the nerve while surgery involves either removing the affected nerve tissue or reducing pressure on the nerve. |
